These days

Just wanted to write down so i can remember, that even though i have had an exhausting few days with the boys, while getting ready for bed all i could think of was a sweet moment with Cadell, and walking past liam asleep in his cot dreamsmiling all i could think was how precious he is. How precious they both are.

Underwater World

On Saturday we decided to use the voucher that we had been planning on using since before Liam was born and go to Underwater World. We left early to get there when it opened pretty much, it took an hour to get there and we arrived at around 9. Cadell was a little bit wary of getting too close to the exhibits at first, but loved looking at all the tanks with the different types of sea creatures. His favourites were the barramundi and other freshwater fish, and of course he loved the water displays as water is one of his favourite things. I think he would have loved to get in with some of the fish! The sharks were a bit scary, particularly the one hanging from the ceiling!! Daddy had to carry him past that one.  Liam did really well, very content in the pram while we walked around. We had some fish and chips by the mariner for lunch afterwards, and Cadell and Daddy fed some chips to the fish and birds there while I fed Liam. We left around 12:15pm, and I thin...

Routine for Cadell

I just created this with a template from KaylaAimee and photoshop. I am hoping it will help with keeping Cadell on a schedule in the mornings, we will see how it goes tomorrow! I added the 'unload dishwasher' job, as he always wants to help me with it whenever he can - so he wont be actually unloading the dishwasher by himself, more 'assisting' me and we can hopefully get it done together in under 20 minutes!!

Liam at 8 weeks

Weight - somewhere around 6.5kgs ( haven't weight him on baby scales since his 6 week check - had to weigh him with me on normal scales!) Length - not sure either. He has developed a bit of baby acne, and a few spots of cradle cap on the back of his head. At 8 weeks Liam is starting to become more of a baby and less of a newborn. He is starting to try and giggle when you tickle his cheeks, or in reaction to you talking to him. I have noticed however that he does seem to have torticollis like his brother. I have started being vigilant with doing exercises to stretch and strengthen his neck, increased tummy time (whenever he is awake he will go on his tummy until he gets upset) and watching his head as I have noticed a slight flattening on one side. I have tried to re-position during naptimes in the day, and he still sleeps with his pillow that is supposed to prevent flathead. He has just started sleeping from 7pmish-3am, more often than not. which is nice, I a...

Liam at 6 weeks

Weight - 5.91kgs Length - 58cm Head Circ - 39 cm As I am now writing this when Liam is 9 weeks I don't remember too many details about when he was 6 weeks! He had his vaccinations and 6 week check up and went very well. Cried more than Cadell did, his little pathetic bottom lip cry. Amazing how the 2 babies can be so different, I remember Cadell's cry to be more of an angry cry. He was still sleeping reasonably well, waking up twice usually in the night to feed.

This and That

This is what life is like with a 2 year old and a baby! I have yet to finish Liam's 6 week and 8 week updates, but managed to take his 2 month photo so was able to do this comparison collage. He has definitely been growing! Life can be tough sometimes. We are going ok but I am longing for some stability, at the moment we are contemplating (actually very much pursuing) a job change and town change. Matt is unhappy at his current job, and we are both sick of the hectic life we are currently living for the privilege of being in a big city. Hoping all the pieces will fall into place soon and we can get permanently settled somewhere.

Words Cadell can say now - 24 months old

He's very good at saying 'No' now, its a very emphatic no with a headshake always accompanying. 'More' 'Door' - this is because he loves the garage door opening so always says 'Door?' when we are getting ready to go out. 'Ta' 'Duck' - as his favourite animals are birds, this is one of his first words and most recognisable character for him to pick out in books, real life, etc. 'Car' 'Up' - when he wants to be picked up. 'Cheese' - I've only caught him saying this once the other day, but I think as time goes on he is having a go at more and more words. I know that he comprehends and understands language very well, but i think its part of his shy nature that he won't try and vocalise as much. I know at daycare they say that as soon as they start making a big deal out of something he has done or said, he gets shy and wont repeat.

Brothers

Cadell is so good with Liam. I do have to watch him very carefully as he is only as gentle as a 2 year old can be, and thinks Liam might like a sip of his juice, or a tiny teddy...! He loves to give him kisses and cuddles, and is concerned about him when he hears him start to make noise on the baby monitor. He hasn't shown one bit of jealousy yet, and has been the same happy child since Liam arrived. We were expecting a change in behaviour and maybe a bit of jealousy, but he has adjusted like nothing has changed really.  I know this period of time is quite challenging, when they are both small, but I am glad for the close age gap between them as I am hoping they will be best buddies as they grow.

Cadell's Second Birthday

We started off the day with presents and balloons! And then had strawberry pancakes for breakfast - same as last year. The cake that Mummy and Daddy spent a lot of time on, mainly Daddy as he did all the carving and icing! Present from Gran and Pops - MegaBloks Wagon Having fun with his older cousins Azra, Dominic, Daniel and Samuel. Liam with Auntie Ros Liam with his cousin Samuel I think he enjoyed the cake! Auntie Hannah and Uncle Dan with little cousin Max.

Cadell: 2 years old

We cant believe our gorgeous firstborn son is 2 years old! There are so many things i want to remember of him in these days. He really is a treasure. We are so lucky to have been given him. He is such a sweet natured boy, still shy but coming out of his shell more and more. He can be quite cheeky and knows it! He is still not saying much, although he knows everything, we only have to say something once and he remembers it. He loves his new little brother and wants to hug and kiss him all the time, we are working on being gentle! He is seeming to say 'hi baby' when he comes to see liam and its in such a tender way, so lovely to see. Since I started writing this he has been progressing in leaps and bounds with his talking. I was looking at a book with him yesterday evening and he pointed at the clock in the book, and said 'clock' and then pointed to our clock on the wall! He did it many times when we asked him to repeat. He is so heavy now! I have had break f...

Liam at 5 weeks

Not sure how much he weighs this week, I would say a little over 5kgs now! He really is a perfect baby. Usually he sleeps well, last night however he was a bit more unsettled, when i say unsettled he wasn't crying for hours, but just up a lot more for feeds. Its either because he is having a growth spurt, or because he is slightly constipated as he has gone from pooing every day to nothing for the last few days. He isn't bothered though, still content when he is awake. He is settling into a little routine and will usually go to bed around 8-9pm and sleep til 1-2am, then usually sleep until 6am which means I am only getting up once a night unless we are having an off night. He is smiling more and more, and putting up with a lot of slobbery kisses and not so gentle cuddles from his brother. I think that they will be best friends very soon. He is generally just a very content baby, happy to fit in with whatever is going on which is a perfect quality for a second chi...
